42 - Tourism on Minavra
Previous session: 41 - Once More, With Dessert
After admiring the view for a little more, Nesvalyn proposes to get down to reach the street level.
When looking down, we see these strange vehicles, along shapeshifted beasts of various forms and shapes we've never seen before.
We shape back into the Cloud form, and start to make our way to the street level. As we're navigating, an out of nowhere storm is on top of us, and the wind starts to blow heavily.
[Acrobatics] We're being carried by the wind again, when suddenly Persy and Reylynn feels they're being caught in a net, and they tumble down again and again while reverting to their humanoid form, until they slam.
Axel and Nesvalyn see that net and the scene.
The duo knocked over a person, dressed in a very fitted raincoat, with circular goggles, with something wiping off the rain. Their hair is a bright jarring magenta color.
Persy grabs Reylynn and hovers away.
And as fast it appeared, as fast the storm disappeared.
This person has two massive silk ribbons attached to buildings on each side. They twist their wrist and the ribbons wraps around that person, as they remove their raincoat and goggles, reveals a bandolier with bottles filled with crackling thunders.
They look like some kind of half-elf. They turn around to the duo, and Axel with Nesvalyn regroup.
They shake the water away.
They toss us a bottle filled with a lightning.
They pull out a piece of paper folded.
They keep unfolding the map showing a big 3D map. They point to the center level.
We all turn back in our cloud forms.
Sabine's ribbon pull it out, it's expending as an aerialist red ribbon, who hooks on buildings, and they click their heels to make sparkles as they're backing up to start up.
l:Sabine
<You guys' ready?
We signal we're ready.
They click the heels and hops forming two electoral rings, and it starts gliding by being slingshot into the air.
We're flying through the megacity following that person, who leaves electrical sparks behind them, making it easier to follow, even if Sabine is faster than us.
Finally they do a flip and dive straight downwards to the ground, and we follow them. It's getting dark near the ground, and we finally see the earth, with vines and branches catching Sabine, pulling her down.
Suddenly, we're in a tunnel, and we shape back to our regular forms.
They take their ribbon, shrink and use it to tie their hair in a ponytail. After a while, it brings to a light of a cavern, showing houses and elements going down into the darkness. We're back in the sounds of a city.
We notice many metal buildings, lit by some bioluminescent mushrooms, and even being in the caverns, it's bright as daylight.
They guide us through a lively city with many undead, different to the ones Sabine described before, as they're looking as real undead along the smell. But it contains also living people. When we're getting in a lift to a market, it looks like a zombie market, trying to sell us bugs, spices and other commodities.
Finally, we're led to a building with a wooden door where Sabine knocks, and we're all led into a secretive back alley entrance. Inside, it's a very bright room, similar to a jewelry room.
As we're getting near the counter, we notice a dead Loxodon, wearing a lot of cologne to cover the smell, but nicely dressed, as even the bones are adorned with jewelry.
They pull of the belt of lighting bottles on the counter. They comment about transferring credits.
Persy pays up 50 credits. Laz laughs from that view.
Axel gives the Waterdrop Pendant, but it's not enough.
Persy gives the Dragonfire bellow, which is reticent to give it, triggering a small banter between Axel and Persy, as the last one is reticent to give stuff like that to Faz.
On paying, when asked for the tip, Persy adds the minimum, giving in total 505 credits.
Persy gives a silent but angry look towards Laz.
We're starting to shop around.
Persy is interested to get a [Ring of Puzzler’s Wit], which is sold for 200 credits, and would cost 250 credits worth for the materials.
↪[Insight] It seems to be a weird logic to Axel, but it seems right.
Persy buys the materials.
Axel buys a Cloak of Displacement, but we're not allow to cast [Identify] before buying it.
Reylynn bought two circlets, one for her and one for Axel.
Persy asks for a new core, Laz gives direction for a person who would help us.
[Identify] It's an Inconvenient Cloak of Displacement, it works the same as a normal one, but it gets stuck into doors, giving disadvantage on movement near some objects (like a door, desk, coat racks...).
Reylynn gives a circlet to Persy, which raised some suspicions from Axel and Nesvalyn.
Persy puts the circlet, and it's a Circlet of Human Mediocrity. It works the same of Circlet of Human Perfection, but you're found out as a boring person, and smelling weird.
Reylynn has another one that she's wearing at the same time.
There's a small banter between Nesvalyn and Axel, slightly trash talking about Persy and having a hard time believing he was better as a robot, which removes it after a moment.
Then comes the next step of our plan.
We're getting information on Anathema on the way.
[Investigation] It's the talk of the town and common news. Nesvalyn overheard the rumor of "Someone was talking how the grand niece had always a love for animals - They wouldn't be surprised would have gone to Aves Heights and didn't make it back."
We make our way to the train and get in, it's pulled by a dozens of undeads.
As it goes, it stays packed for most of it. We ride for an hour and fifteen minutes, and it gets emptier by time. At one point it's only us and a small group on the other side.
[Perception - Pass ✔] Nesvalyn and Axel notices that it's weird it's only us and them. And they keep looking at us and we have bad vibes from them.
One of them approach us.
He pulls out a dagger, and before any of us can react, suddenly one of the windows breaks open and lands a figure cloaked in all black, long cloak, with a long spear in their hand.
This masked person beats them all in a blink, not killing them but we hear the sound of breaking bones.
[Perception - Pass ✔] Axel notices the fluid movements, their limbs look almost too fluid, making them think it could be a Plasmoid.
The figure knock them all out, and turn around to us, confirming Axel's theory.
they point to Sabine, who blushes after realizing that.
The Black Slime jumps through another window to leave.
The train finally gets to our stop, leaving the moaning punks behind us.
The place is way more creepy, being Tar Town.
We notice a lot of people living on the street, sleeping in the catacomb style, like shelves into the walls, with just a bed for them. As we're making our way through, we find ourselves at a greasy mechanic shop.
There are a few Warforged and Dwarforged elements, with some electronics and vehicles, that person seems to be a general tinkerer.
We go in, and we see underneath an undead woman, especially her big belly, wiping grease on her shirt.
We hear a sigh, she pulls slowly from the wind surfer, and stands up from that.
Persy shows his inside to Big Sue.
l:Big Sue
<Woah, how a piece of scrap like you ended up with this?
l:Persy
<Apparently the guys who worked on me had certain contacts. As you can see, they have decent magic at their disposal. Unfortunately, I don't think it's reliable hope, and I'd like to get a replacement.
l:Big Sue
<By the looks of it, you didn't get messed up with a Fey lord, these sons of bitches. But powerful. Could be worth a lot of money.
l:Persy
<We can get an exchange if you want.
l:Big Sue
<Well, you coming?
Persy follows, along with the party, but not too fast as she waddles slowly.
Before us, there's a lab, contrasting with the outside junkyar, a full functional biotech lab, similar to the one we saw at the Dome.
She opens a drawer and starts shuffle, searching for something.
During the banter, she touches things and asks Persy to sit. She reaches a big needle into a magic power core and a green light emanates from it. She opens a panel.
Persy shuts down in a thumbs position. Big Sue changes Persy's power core for a few minutes. When she turns Persy back, his thumbs up hand reaches out Nesvalyn's throat.
He then drops Nesvalyn, who coughs from the shock.
Sabine gives direction to not be under Mausoleum, so we can find a safe hotel.
On the way back up, Persy speaks up.
Sabine explains the difference between Feywild Fey are much less cruel than the other Fey.
The Other Fey it goes to the first two brother Fey, and their disagreement on mortal lives. The wild brother thought it was curiosity, to be learn from and it would be a part of existence to be examined.
The other one thinks it's irrelevant, being weak to Fey, with no point to exist. They come from the Hedge (Or is one of them).
Nesvalyn looks around, observes a bit Reylynn, then Persy, then looks away to avoid any eye contact with a party member.
Reylynn shakes her head.
[Insight] Axel doesn't recall anything.
As we're getting off the train and getting near the surface, we're in a single line file. It's only us in this tunnel and all the torches blow out.
Suddenly, we feel water in our boots and water splashes, and it raises knee height.
Standing behind us is a wall of water blocks us, and in front of us, glowing like a jelly fish is an undead girl, playing the bass, wearing this kind of jelly fish dress, flips her bangs up.
She plays the bass.
